cloudflare-deploy

Select, configure, and deploy applications or infrastructure on the appropriate Cloudflare services.

What it does

Deploy applications and infrastructure across Cloudflare by matching project requirements to Workers, Pages, storage, networking, security, AI, media, or infrastructure-as-code services. It verifies Wrangler authentication before deployment, points to product-specific references, and accounts for deployment timeouts or sandbox network restrictions.

When to use it

  • Publishing an edge function with Workers
  • Deploying a full-stack app through Pages
  • Provisioning Cloudflare storage or queues
  • Managing Cloudflare resources with Terraform or Pulumi

The skill document

Cloudflare Deploy

Consolidated skill for building on the Cloudflare platform. Use decision trees below to find the right product, then load detailed references.

Prerequisites

  • When sandboxing blocks the deployment network calls, rerun with sandbox_permissions=require_escalated.
  • The deployment might take a few minutes. Use appropriate timeout values.

Authentication (Required Before Deploy)

Verify auth before wrangler deploy, wrangler pages deploy, or npm run deploy:

npx wrangler whoami # Shows account if authenticated

Not authenticated? → references/wrangler/auth.md

  • Interactive/local: wrangler login (one-time OAuth)
  • CI/CD: Set CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN env var

Troubleshooting

Escalated Network Access

If deployment fails due to network issues (timeouts, DNS errors, connection resets), rerun the deploy with escalated permissions (use sandbox_permissions=require_escalated). The deploy requires escalated network access when sandbox networking blocks outbound requests.

Example guidance to the user:

The deploy needs escalated network access to deploy to Cloudflare. I can rerun the command with escalated permissions—want me to proceed?

Questions people ask

How does it choose the right Cloudflare service?
It uses decision trees based on the workload: code execution, storage, AI/ML, networking, security, media, or infrastructure as code. For example, edge functions map to Workers, Git-deployed full-stack apps to Pages, and object storage to R2.
What authentication is required before deployment?
It checks authentication with `npx wrangler whoami` before running Wrangler or npm deployment commands. Local use can authenticate through one-time OAuth with `wrangler login`, while CI/CD can use `CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN`.
What happens if sandbox networking blocks deployment?
For timeouts, DNS errors, or connection resets caused by blocked outbound access, the deployment can be rerun with `sandbox_permissions=require_escalated`. Appropriate timeout values should also be used because deployment may take a few minutes.
